Joel Jaffe
Joel Jaffe is an acclaimed producer, recording engineer, mixer, singer-songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist whose career spans decades of work with some of music’s most respected artists. As a vocalist and instrumentalist, he has contributed vocals, acoustic and electric guitar, slide guitar, keyboards, and percussion to recordings by artists including The Stylistics, Lenny Williams, Maria Muldaur, Huey Lewis and the News, Eddie Money, and Manzarek-Rogers.
Jaffe is co-founder of Studio D Recording in Sausalito, California, a landmark studio where numerous acclaimed albums were recorded, including Aretha (Aretha Franklin), The Way It Is (Bruce Hornsby & The Range), System of Survival (Earth, Wind & Fire), Badmotorfinger (Soundgarden), and Forever Blue (Chris Isaak).
As a producer, engineer, mixer, and co-producer, Jaffe has worked with a diverse roster of celebrated artists, including Ringo Starr, Mavis Staples, The Call, Evelyn “Champagne” King, The Stylistics, Flamin’ Groovies, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Bonnie Raitt, Van Morrison, Liz Kennedy, and Carlos Santana. His production work reflects a rare ability to bridge genres while bringing out the unique character of each artist.
Beyond the recording studio, Jaffe has composed music for television and sports, including the theme song and arena opening music for the Golden State Warriors, as well as themes for NBC’s Wordplay, CBS’s Win America, and WDR Network in Germany.
